Gujarat IT/ITeS Roadshow Unveils Transformative Opportunities for Growth and Investment
The Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat, organized an impactful roadshow today at Hilton, Chennai, to highlight the Gujarat IT/ITeS Policy (2022–2027) and showcase the state as a premier destination for innovation, investment, and technology-led growth.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. GSK Velu, Chairman of FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council, and Mr. Bhupesh Nagarajan, Co-Chair, FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council, who set the tone by acknowledging Gujarat’s pioneering role in driving India’s economic and technological advancement.
Shri Tushar Bhatt, IAS, Director, Directorate of ICT & e-Governance, delivered an engaging presentation on the IT/ITeS landscape of Gujarat, emphasizing its robust infrastructure, proactive governance, and unparalleled investment opportunities. He highlighted Gujarat’s strategic vision to emerge as one of India’s top five IT-performing states by 2027 and outlined its roadmap for achieving exponential growth in IT exports and sectoral development.
Addressing the audience, Smt. Mona K. Khandhar, IAS, Principal Secretary, DST, Government of Gujarat, detailed the strategic incentives and policies under the Gujarat IT/ITeS Policy (2022–2027). The policy provides unmatched CAPEX and OPEX support for IT infrastructure development, operational expenses, and employment generation, making Gujarat a preferred destination for global and domestic IT investments.
Smt. Khandhar also featured success stories and presentations by representatives from GIFT City and leading infrastructure developers, showcasing Gujarat’s advanced IT parks, data centers, and globally competitive ecosystem. With key clusters in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Surat, Gujarat has cemented its position as a vibrant hub for technology innovation, attracting ₹36,000 crore in investments and generating 70,000 new employment opportunities since the policy’s inception.
Shri Bhatt highlighted Gujarat’s emphasis on emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, IoT, Big Data, AR/VR, and Quantum Computing. The state is establishing a Deep Tech Centre of Excellence to foster R&D, innovation, and skill development. This forward-looking approach positions Gujarat as a leader in adopting and advancing futuristic technologies.
The roadshow underscored Gujarat’s proactive efforts in creating an investor-friendly environment with ease of doing business, reliable governance, and a robust connectivity network. As India’s “Growth Engine,” Gujarat contributes significantly to the national economy, offering state-of-the-art infrastructure, abundant skilled manpower, and a thriving ecosystem for startups and enterprises.
A special focus was placed on Gujarat’s initiatives to attract global players by offering direct financial incentives, including up to 30% CAPEX support, OPEX support for operational costs, and special incentives for IT parks, global capability centers, and R&D labs. Gujarat’s policy also prioritizes talent development by partnering with global tech leaders such as IBM, Microsoft, Nvidia, and AWS, and premier institutions like IIT Gandhinagar and DAIICT.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, reflecting the keen interest of Tamil Nadu’s domestic & global IT/ITeS community in exploring partnerships and investments in Gujarat. The roadshow showcased Gujarat’s commitment to building a dynamic, technology-driven future, reaffirming its position as a “Destination of Choice” for IT and ITeS investments.
