எலைட் டாக்கீஸ் பேனரில் கே. பாஸ்கரன் தயாரிப்பில் நாராயணன் இயக்குநராக அறிமுகமாகும் திரைப்படம் ‘பேட்டில்’ (‘Battle’). சமீபத்தில் வெளியான ‘தண்டகாரண்யம்’ படத்தின் உதவி எழுத்தாளராகவும் இயக்குநர் சக்திவேலிடம் இணை இயக்குநராகவும் பணியாற்றியவர் நாராயணன் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
ராப் பாடகரின் வாழ்க்கைப் பயணத்தை திரையில் பிரதிபலிக்கும் ‘பேட்டில்’ திரைப்படத்தில் ‘தங்கலான்’ புகழ் அன்புடன் அர்ஜுன், ‘காந்தி கண்ணாடி’ படத்தில் சிறு வயது அர்ச்சனா பாத்திரத்தில் நடித்த ஆராத்யா முதன்மை வேடங்களில் நடிக்கின்றனர்.
இயக்குநர்கள் சுப்பிரமணியம் சிவா, சரவண சுப்பையா, காயத்ரி, முனீஷ்காந்த், சுருளி, ‘இட்லி கடை’ படத்தில் சிறு வயது தனுஷ் பாத்திரத்தில் நடித்த திஹான் மற்றும் திவ்ய ஸ்ரீ உள்ளிட்டோர் ‘பேட்டில்’ படத்தில் முக்கிய வேடங்களில் நடிக்கின்றனர்.
ஒரு ராப் பாடகரின் வாழ்க்கையைப் பின்னி பிணைந்து முழுக்க சென்னை பின்னணியில் நடைபெறும் இக்கதை, அந்த பாடகர் எதிர்கொள்ளும் பிரச்சினைகளை திரையில் காட்டுவதோடு ஒரு முக்கிய விஷயத்தையும் வெளிச்சம் போடுகிறது.
திரைப்படம் குறித்து பேசிய இயக்குநர் நாராயணன், “ராப் பாடகரின் வாழ்க்கைப் பயணத்தை முழுக்க காட்டும் முதல் தமிழ் படம் இதுவென்று நினைக்கிறேன். ராப் பாடகர்கள் ஒன்று கூடும் இடத்தில் பேட்டில் என்ற நிகழ்வு நடைபெறும். அதை குறிக்கும் வகையிலும், நாயகன் எதிர்கொள்ளும் போராட்டங்களை விளக்கும் வகையிலும் இப்படத்திற்கு ‘பேட்டில்’ என்று பெயர் வைத்துள்ளோம்,” என்றார்.
தொடர்ந்து பேசிய அவர், “சரியாக இரண்டு மணி நேரம் ஓடும் இப்படத்தில் ஆறு பாடல்கள் இடம்பெறுகின்றன. அர்ஜுன் சிறப்பான நடிப்பை வெளிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார், ஆராத்யா மிக முக்கிய வேடத்தில் கலக்கியுள்ளார். வலுவான வேடங்களில் இயக்குநர்கள் சுப்பிரமணியம் சிவா மற்றும் சரவண சுப்பையாவும், அமைச்சராக முனீஷ்காந்தும் நடிக்கின்றனர்,” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
‘பேட்டில்’ படத்திற்கு ஜீவா இசையமைக்க, முன்னணி ஒளிப்பதிவாளர் செழியனின் உதவியாளரான யுவராஜ் ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்ய, பிரபல எடிட்டர் லெனின் உதவியாளரான காமேஷ் படத்தொகுப்பை கையாள்கிறார். ராவண ராம், கெபின், நிஷாந்த், கானா அப்பிலோ, சத்யபிரகாஷ் மற்றும் வைஷ்ணவி உள்ளிட்டோர் பாடல்களை பாடியுள்ளனர்.

Reflecting the life journey of a rap artist on screen, ‘Battle’ features directors Subramaniam Siva, Saravana Subbiah, and actor Munishkanth in important roles
‘Battle’, a film produced by K. Baskaran under Elite Talkies banner, marks the directorial debut of Narayanan. It is noteworthy that Narayanan worked as an assistant writer for the recently released film ‘Thandakaaranyam’ and as a co-director with director Sakthivel.
‘Battle’ which reflects the life journey of a rapper stars Anbudan Arjun of ‘Thangalan’ fame and Aaradhya, who played young Archana in the recently-released ‘Gandhi Kannadi’, in the lead roles.
Directors Subramaniam Siva, Saravana Subbaiah, Gayathri, Munishkanth, Suruli, Dhihaan, who played the role of young Dhanush in the film ‘Idly Kadai’, and Divya Shri are playing important roles in ‘Battle’.
The story, which is set in the backdrop of Chennai, weaves together the life of a rapper and shows the problems that the singer faces and also sheds light on an important issue.
Speaking about the film, director Narayanan said, “I think this is the first Tamil film to show the entire life journey of a rapper. An event called battle will take place when rappers gather. We have named the film ‘Battle’ to symbolise that and also to explain the struggles the protagonist faces,” he said.
He added, “The film, which runs for exactly two hours, has six songs. Arjun has given a great performance, and Aaradhya has beautifully played a very important role. Directors Subramaniam Siva and Saravana Subbaiah have done a great job, and Munishkanth plays a minister,” he said.
Jeeva has composed the music for ‘Battle’, Yuvaraj, a former assistant to leading cinematographer Chezhiyan, is handling the cinematography, and Kamesh, who worked as an assistant to famous editor Lenin, is handling the editing. Ravana Ram, Kevin, Nishanth, Gana Apellow, Sathyaprakash and Vaishnavi have crooned for the songs.
Director Pa. Ranjith released the first look of ‘Battle’ which stars Anbudan Arjun and Aaradhya in the lead roles, today. The film is produced by K. Baskaran of Elite Talkies and directed by Narayanan.
